Where is your Prostate?
Your prostate is part of the male reproductive system located in front of the rectum between your bladder and penis.
What does your Prostate do?
Your prostate is a walnut-sized gland, as well as muscle, vital to your health and healthy sexuality.
The fluid produced in it (PSA) plays a key role in propagation of the species.
On a physical level, the prostate secretes a slightly alkaline fluid, milky or white in appearance, that usually constitutes about 30% of the volume of semen along with spermatozoa and seminal vesicle fluid.
The prostatic fluid is expelled in the first part of ejaculation together with most of the sperm. The spermatozoa in prostatic fluid have better motility (ability to move and get around) longer survival and better protection of genetic material.
The urethra runs through the center of the prostate, from the bladder to the penis, letting urine flow out of the body.
The prostate also represents one of our body's filters which means that it is prone to storing stagnant fluids and toxins.
Understanding more than just the physical
In order to truly connect to the prostate and heal it naturally, we need to understand it from more than just the physical aspect. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the prostate, along with penis and testicles, represents the Kidney system, which is in charge of your hormonal system (especially testosterone) and determines the quality of your health and wellbeing.
When the prostate is stressed or suffers from blockages, the sexual energy (jing qi) cannot circulate through your body freely. The sedimentation, congestions and blockages prevents the blood and qi from flowing smoothly which results in numbness or pain. The consequences can lead to prostate enlargement which squeezes the urethra, blocks and slows down urination, provokes erectile difficulties and premature ejaculation problems.
Reproductive energies are fundamental to the human experience which is reflected in prostate's name itself. The word prostate derives from Ancient Greek meaning “one who stands before”, “protector”, “guardian”.
Sexual energy in the West is very rushed without awareness of the prostate. The “flame” in the man is easily and quickly awakened. It is important to slow down and take time, there is no rush. As Guardians, you need to make sure the flame doesn’t come too strong and too fast. You need to become keepers of the flame.
It is important that you enter into sexuality with full awareness and compassion for stillness, gentleness, slowness and with consciousness of what is going on in your body and your lovers too.
Often lovemaking is not with full awareness and contains much shame and guilt which shuts us down. Lovemaking with a healthy prostate can become an opportunity to consciously go into our wounds and heal them.
The psychological significance of sexuality and sensuality differs from one man to another. This is often related to feelings of shame and guilt.
The body is socially constructed and unbalanced in the West. Your identity is sadly expected to be built upon constraints of the male "macho" code. The norms that define manhood are in themselves deeply malignant and promote the image of a "strong", powerful and sexually aggressive man who is expected be in control and always be ready for action.
Such views usually demean the importance of being truly authentic. You are under constant pressure to perform and there are sadly not enough safe spaces where you can allow yourself to gradually and incrementally open to the idea and express your thoughts and feelings.
If bottled up or pushed down, these gradually turn into toxic emotions which are stored in your body. Many unresolved emotions as a consequence of repressed sexuality, shame, hate and disgust are hidden in the prostate area.
The prostate is a part of the male reproductive system and in this sense represents who a man is on the most natural level; where and how do you show up without any labels and social masks? How do you feel the connection to your body and sensuality?
Most men are not allowed to be this vulnerable and thereby continue rejecting to tap into the prostate. They are afraid to feel its energetics because the prostate is hidden and thereby represents a vulnerable state. It’s internal access is also an area surrounded in taboo.
You need an opportunity to be able to be whole and sovereign in your body by connecting to your prostate which represents the core of your authenticity.
